Condemnation and Grace

"My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things." (I John 3:18-20)

I'm not perfect. I make mistakes, I make bad choices, and sometimes I even knowingly choose wrong. And then I can't find forgiveness.... from myself. God is always faithful to forgive me when I ask him, but it's my own heart that torments me when I've done wrong.

What a comfort it is that my God who knows everything (even my failures), is ready to forgive with a forgiveness that is greater than my own heart.

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is in vain." (Gal. 2:20-21)
